20 years of design

Tomorrow, the third of december, we celebrate the 20 years anniversary of the Umeå Institute of Design school. It´s gonna be two days of celebrations with all of the old students and staff. Workshops, talks, memories and a mega party of course. I´m responsible of the lights and sound and DJ´s during the night. It´s gonna be a night to remeber. http://www.dh.umu.se/



Other news is how I´m gonna spend the spring term.
We have a 10 week internship this spring and I´m gonna be at Stockholm office Doberman as an interaction design assistant. Lots of fun. http://doberman.se/

The winter is coming over Umeå fast. Gotta wear double layers now.
I´m in the middle of a project called Hot Team. Can´t say it´s so hot, but plenty of fun. It´s allways fun to work creativly with creativ people. The topic for the project is improving a gluegun for constuction workers.
I´m applying for internship for the spring semester in Stockholm. It´s gonna be nice to get away from Umeå for 10 weeks and get out on the design market.
Reading Per Hagman again. I think this is the third time I´m reading his books. Can´t wait until his new book "vänner för livet" gets out, sometime during spring 2010.

Stockholm Pants

Chilling in Stockholm, it´s been a while since the last time.
So great to catch up with old friends. A less fun thing is that the good summer weather is gone.
Raining like hell today. Good though, I´m listening to Mos Defs new album The Ecstatic. I just love when I get into the hip hop mode, a good break from all that techno and dubstep.

Just before I left for Stockholm I had the oppertunity to finish the tattoo I started making on Drews ankle. Now it´s done, very satisfied with the result, hehe.

Feeling so stoked to go back to Stockholm. Everything is done that I had to take care of and I got a jolly good summer job. Working in a nice bar out in the archipelago.

Sharp pencil

Done with a form course in school. We had to do the the course in three and a half days instead of two weeks as planned. Anyway, just wanted to say that our teacher is really cool. Even though he´s not a learned teacher he has learnig techniques that overcome many other teachers I´ve had. This is the result of a resembling between a fly fishing reel and a zippo lighter morphed into a pencil sharpener.

















By the way, how the hell can Last FM be so hyped? It sucks and it´s ugly as shit.

Saturday recap

I stood in the fucking line for 1 hour waiting for one of Umeås two decent nightclubs, UBC. Three men in white masks playing french electro clash, electro pop and some techno. Nice guys and a good hangover. Fell asleep on a friends sofa 3 min away from my ap, but I ate a whole disgusting pizza and drank a lot of czech beer so I´m not surprised that I woke up half dead at 7am completely dehydrated not knowing where I was. Well well, gotta love it.

Sunday, again.

So here it comes again. Same thing every week.
Gotta say though, for being in Umeå I had a good weekend. Lots of partying and fun times.
But as shure as Obama is the first black president in the states I´m feeling down on a Sunday night. I´ll be giving a more detailed version of the weekend tomorrow, gotta do some reading.

I´m totally hooked on Jack Penate - Tonight's Today. It´s so god damn good. The Leo Zero Mix is so awesome as well. The song inspired me to

Grey days, but hopefull

One thing that annoys me about Umeå is the darkness. So now when the clock is 7:30 pm and you still can see colors outside I´m pretty hopefull that things is going to be better.
At the moment I´m reading classmates reports which is suicidelly boring and gives me headaches. To survive this torture I´m treating my self with my homemade esperssos and dark chocolate, it gives you some joy when you rather would be drinking tall drinks and mixing techno.
One good thing though is that I´m going home to Stockholm for easter. It´s going to be soo nice talking to some decent people and listen to some real music. The shittiest thing though is that I´m missing two occasions when Aeroplane (Eskimo/BE) is playing, 8th of April in Stockholm and 11th here in Umeå, fucking sthit.

Ordinary nights

A ordinary night when Lo isn´t here is fairly depressing. Cooking some dinner, preparing lunch boxes for the next days lunch, then diving into the cumputer. If I don´t do school work on it, I roll around the net or wacthing some movie. If my eyes start hurting I´ll just start reading a book instead. Maby this is what people do, or what they wish to do. But I´m tired of it, or is it the depressing city of Umeå that makes even rather plesant activities boring?

Today was a ok day. Had a class about writing proper reports about
projects you do in school. For lunch I had the pleasure of eating a damn good tuna sallad, but I had to eat it fast beacuse of the meeting I had with Björn. He is responsible for the interaction workshop/lab and we had a training session so that I can have access to the lab 24/7.
I spent the afternoon writing a fictive pressrealese for the windmill I did.
For some monday treatment I gave my self two t-shirts and a sweather, from H&M though, no fancy shit here man.

Last weekend Umeå-people could enjoy listening to various artists during the Pop Up festival. On the friday show Fever Ray (Karin Dreijer from The Knife) played. I wasn´t there but a class mate said it was wonderful.
